Faster and more efficient truck handling in Aarhus

At APM Terminals Aarhus, we continuously work on optimizing our service. Amongst other initiatives, we have a high focus on reducing Truck Turn Time (TTT) – the time trucks spend at the terminal from gate in until gate out. Our aim is to make the time trucks use within the terminal as efficient and smooth as possible for you, our customers.  

“We have specifically focused on lowering time spent for those trucks that had a Truck Turn Time of more than 50 minutes as we know this is particularly important to our customers. By focusing on this and through ongoing optimizations, we have now reduced the average TTT from approximately 26 minutes to 20-22 minutes,” explains Bo Lange, COO APM Terminals Aarhus. 

Targeted improvements 

The optimizations have been done by: 

• Mapping the entire process from gate in to gate out to identify areas where waiting time could be reduced. 
• Adjusting our gate opening hours to improve traffic flow. 
• Planning internal container movements and handling to minimize disruptions during peak periods. 
• Engaging closely with customers and partners to understand their experiences and needs. 

"We have focused on making truck handling smoother while maintaining the service level our customers expect. Shorter turnaround times mean less waiting and more predictable logistics for everyone," says Helle Almind, Commercial Manager.
