Transition from Fast Track Scheme to Authorized Economic Operator (AEO) Programme

Dear Valued Customer,

We wish to inform you of an important update from the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) regarding trade facilitation processes.

The Fast Track Scheme currently in operation will be phased out on January 31, 2026. In its place, the Authorised Economic Operator (AEO) Programme will officially commence on February 1, 2026. Please note that under the AEO regime, Fast Track charges will remain the same, with no increase applied.

The AEO Programme is a globally recognized initiative under the World Customs Organization (WCO) SAFE Framework, designed to enhance supply chain security and streamline customs procedures for compliant businesses.

What this means for you:

  • The Fast Track Scheme will no longer be available after January 31, 2026.
  • Businesses wishing to enjoy similar or enhanced benefits must apply for AEO status.
  • AEO status offers advantages such as:
  • Faster cargo clearance and reduced inspections
  • Priority treatment at ports
  • Greater trust and partnership with Customs

We encourage all stakeholders to begin preparations for this transition by reviewing the eligibility requirements for AEO certification and initiating the application process early.

For more information on the Authorized Economic Operator (AEO) Programme and application guidelines, please contact the Nigeria Customs Service.

Thank you for your continued cooperation as we work together to improve trade facilitation and supply chain security.
