Our Terminal

Located on the western Pacific coast of Colombia, the Buenaventura Container Terminal TCBUEN is just 16 hours from the Panama Canal for international markets and is ideally positioned to service major regional cities.

TCBUEN is a public service Maritime Terminal specialized in containers that offers the following port services:

  • Container and loose cargo handling
  • Dynamic scale weighing system
  • Optical recognition and scanner equipment
  • Storage of containers in areas with a permanent monitoring and surveillance system
  • Inspection for refrigerated loading, filling and emptying
  • Logistics operation in coffee and sugar storage as well as cargo transfer to customs areas.

Location

TCBUEN’s strategic location is one of its main competitive advantages, due to: 

  • Entrance located 2 km before Puente el Piñal, avoiding its restrictions. 
  • Convergencia Via Alterna - Simón Bolívar Highway less than 50 meters from the gate
  • Direct Access to the Poliducto de Occidente. 
  • Maritime Access through the Estero Aguacate. 
  • Depth of channel 12.5 meters in low tide, 14 meters in dock area and turning dock. 
  • Distance to Existing Channel: 2,400 meters. 

Security

TCBUEN has the mission of protecting the physical integrity of people, the port facility and safeguarding the company's assets, carrying out adequate management and administration of security risks, minimizing losses during the provision of port services, with the purpose of providing, through a culture of prevention, a
permanent and efficient security system. Therefore, you undertake to:

  • Prevent in all our activities protection risks that compromise the physical integrity of people, infrastructure, ships and cargo.
  • Ensure compliance with national standards, international standards and commitments signed by the company regarding protection.
  • Periodically review our protection system to ensure continuous improvement.
  • Guarantee the necessary resources for the sustainability of the security system.
  • Maintain constant and periodic training of our staff and monitor compliance.
  • Maintain constant communication with government organizations and authorities that allow the development of their institutional duty

Our Shareholders

Since 2016, TCBUEN has been part of APM Terminals, one of the main global operators that offers port services in 58 countries on five continents and, together with our sponsor the Colombian Infrastructure Equity Fund CIEF Private Capital Fund and more than 800 shareholders minority, we continually work to contribute with an international vocation to the progress of Buenaventura, the region and the country.

Equipment & Facilities 

TCBUEN has a berth of 440 meters in length plus two berthing piles (100m) that can accommodate 2 vessels depending on their combination of lengths. It has a berthing draft of 14 meters at low tide, with a capacity to store up to 18,000 TEUS simultaneously and to serve up to 650,000 TEUs per year.

Technology

TCBUEN’s state-of-the-art port equipment and innovative IT platform provides customers with real-time information about the status and condition of their cargo. Online systems enable 24/7 digital access to:

  • Appointment management
  • Online payments and electronic billing
  • Customer registration

The company uses Optical Character Recognition (OCR) to continually monitor the location of containers.

Ownership

TCBUEN SA is a public limited company, with around 60% of the shares held by APM Terminals and 26% by Grupo Empresarial del Pacífico (GEPSA). The remaining shares are held by the CVC, Gobernación del Valle, the Municipality of Buenaventura and more than 800 local shareholders.
