We come across cases of ‘container lock-stuck’ during container handling operations at the terminal. These cases need to be resolved in a timely and safe manner for due planned movement of the container. Since the resolution of such cases requires certain inputs from the box-operator’s end, we are sharing the process herewith to align expectations over resolution of the same:

The chart above details the various desks involved to resolve the issue of lock-stuck, safely, and the same shall be greatly expedited if the cargo details with indemnity letter and ASR is shared promptly to help the team execute further action.
Further to the above, please note that lock-stuck removal activity is carried out in day light hours to ensure safety of the workmen resolving the same. Also, hot-work involved, if any, is carried out in dry weather only.
Import containers discharged with seal missing, tampered or with number mismatch from the pick-up ticket shall be put on hold. Such containers shall be released for delivery only after due clearance from Jawaharlal Nehru Customs House.
We request transporter representatives to ensure that the seal of the containers being evacuated by them are intact and have details matching with that mentioned on the pick-up ticket. The transporters are requested to alert the yard supervisor in case of any deviation.
Such containers shall be subject to a shifting charge to cover this extra activity. Request your cooperation in the matter to be in compliance with Customs procedures.
