Celebrating women in maritime: stories from across our terminals
In recognition of the International Day for Women in Maritime, 18 May 2025 this year, we’re highlighting a few of the women who play essential roles across APM Terminals.
We asked some of our colleagues what inspires their work, what drew them to the industry, and what advice they’d share with other women considering a career in maritime.
Meet Kajal Vadiya
With nearly two decades at APM Terminals Pipavav in India, Kajal has mastered the art of high-stakes communication in an ever-evolving terminal environment. As a radio officer, she thrives on precision, speed and the thrill of a dynamic workplace while also paving the way for more women to step confidently into maritime careers.
Meet Heba Fahim
As the first woman to join terminal operations at SCCT in Egypt, Heba has redefined what leadership looks like in the field of Health, Safety & Environment. With six years at APM Terminals, she leads from the front: conducting inspections, issuing permits and building a culture of safety and respect, one conversation at a time.
Meet Ashley Winkels
Ashley brings her passion for big systems and sustainability to the heart of one of the world's busiest ports. As Senior Leader of Environmental at APM Terminals Pier 400 in Los Angeles, she's helping shape a cleaner, more efficient future, leading major initiatives such as ISO certification and zero-waste programmes.
