Upcoming TERMPoint Appt. Window Enhancements – Eff. Mon., Dec. 1, 2025

Dear Trucking Community and Valued Customers,

APM Terminals Elizabeth will be implementing improvements to our TERMPoint appointment system effective Mon., Dec. 1, 2025. These changes are designed to further enhance gate efficiency, reduce congestion, and provide greater flexibility for motor carriers.

What’s Changing?

1. Shorter appt. windows: Appt. windows will double from 5 to 10 per day and change from 2 hours to 1 hour windows. (6AM-7AM, 7AM-8AM, 8AM-9AM, 9AM-10AM, 10AM-11AM, 11AM-12PM, 12PM-1PM, 1PM-2PM, 2PM-3PM, 3PM-4PM) 
2. Revised tolerance: Trucks may arrive up to 1 hour after their appointment window, but no longer before it. (This helps us maintain a true FIFO gate process and improve flow consistency while reducing congestion by avoiding early entry spikes)
3. Overall appt window span: Each appt. will now cover 2 total hours (1hr. window + 1hr. post-tolerance) instead of 3 hours allowing us to add more pickup appts to each day due to a more controlled flow. *Truckers will no longer be able to enter 1/2hr. before their appt. window, but can enter up to 1hr. after.
4. Future enhancement: We are actively developing functionality to adjust appointments within the tolerance period directly in TERMPoint. This will allow canceled appointments to be immediately reused by others, improving availability and overall efficiency.

Why the Change?

These updates are designed to improve gate flow and truck turn times. By removing early arrivals, we’ll prevent overlap between appt. windows and keep service more first-come, first-served (FIFO). Shorter, more frequent windows help reduce congestion, avoid gate spikes, and create steadier traffic flow in and out of the terminal throughout the day.

More appt. windows also mean more scheduling options and better use of available slots for everyone.
