Safety & Security

“Safety is at the heart of everything we do.
It is a way of life and a priority in every move we make”

- Harald Nijhof, CEO - Aqaba Container Terminal

Safety is the responsibility of every person in the workforce. The large, heavy and mechanical nature of moving containers, both from ship to shore and within the storage yards, as well as the process of securing or lashing containers to ships and transport trucks, require particular attention to be executed in a safe manner.

Aqaba Container Terminal is committed to the safety of employees, contractors and the general public. We recognize that integrating a sound HSE program into our business is key to our success.

Security

Aqaba Container Terminal (ACT) is committed to providing a safe, secure, and smooth business environment for its personnel, customers, contractors, and visitors.
The transportation of cargo or any movable properties within the terminal is protected against theft and vandalism.

Over the last few years, a variety of container terminal security policies and procedure options have been proposed and applied to reach the best practices in security and safety, namely:

  • Port departure inspections.
  • Around the clock security patrolling and CCTV monitoring.
  • Physical security measures.
  • Scanners operated by customs.
  • Controlling and monitoring access.
  • Safety and security awareness.
  • External party violation procedures.

By way of these practices, we fully complied with The International Ship and Port Facility Security Code (ISPS Code) and certified as a secure port.
