New Automatic Terminal Truck (ATT) test phase at our terminal
Last year we were busy testing Automatic Terminal Trucks (ATT) at our terminal. This is an important addition to our expansion, allowing us to further grow into Europe's most modern, safe and efficient terminal.
Currently, the rail terminal is connected with the automatic area. When the expansion takes place in the future, the truck stack will overlap with the rail terminal. This will create a so-called “Mixed Traffic Zone” where the unmanned ATT will operate between regular traffic. The tests have been successful and therefore it is now time for the next phase.
In this phase, that the ATT will again drive in the area of regular traffic at the stacks. The ATTs are equipped with additional sensors to drive independently in a mixed traffic environment. Although the vehicles are capable of driving without a driver, test engineers will always be present during test days. Drivers are expected to react no differently than in the current situation. There may be times when an ATT may act differently compared to a truck driver. This will require some patience. We would ask you not to do anything unexpected, do not overtake the vehicle and give it some space.
We thank you in advance for your understanding.
